I now really believe that life is both a process and a journey. It’s funny – I have been listening to great inspiring speakers for many years, reading amazing books and spending much of my life looking at what makes me/us tick and how  I/we can live more conscious satisfied lives.

I know many of us have been doing the same. My own life has been my main test laboratory and I have also been honored to work with many women who have also taught me much in these areas. Yet this past year has presented me with number of tests that have forced me to look deep and hard at how I am living my life and, because of this personal inquiry, I have something that I want to share with you — my personal new learnings that are transforming my life.

I have been writing a lot these days about how we rush around and live our lives without being in touch with who we are, with what we really need and with what we really have to offer in the way of our greatest gifts and talents.

I stopped this month to look closely at how I am living, what is working and what is not working and took time to look closely at three key principles that, now that I am using them in my practice, have been changing the entire quality of my life! I am now convinced that when these three qualities below are all lined up together  in my day, amazing things happen.

These qualities are:

  • Gratitude with a very focused intentional approach
  • Conscious choices, the vehicle of our daily actions
  • Self awareness  of our personal destiny

Recently, I have been looking at specific ways to create greater ease in my own life and I have been working  daily with all three principals and have truly been able to slow down, smell the roses (of summer) and accomplish way more with ease.

I am convinced that life can be lived with far greater ease and that it is our responsibility to create the elixir of attributes and qualities that we need to focus on and live within our lives daily. This is true consciousness!

I invite you to revisit gratitude and her close friends and supports, particularly now because I believe she holds essential potential that may be very important to your success and how you are currently living your life.

I believe that there are a number of key universal principals that need to come alive and off the pages of the books we have been reading in order for the world to become a better place. I also believe that we women need to show up and lead the change that is so needed in our world today!

Oh, by the way, we will be looking at this essential and amazing lineup in detail in our July Essential Feminine Living Room. This is a great place to start to deepen your awareness of how you are choosing to live your life and why the outcomes you are receiving may be as they are.

Join me in this Wednesday, July 18 at 12 pm PST in The Living Room for The Power Of Gratitude: The Golden Key That Transforms Your Life!  Things may never be the same for you after the next Essential Feminine Living Room!

I hope to see you there!

Hello Girlfriends – As I take off from Raleigh Durham airport flying to Dallas with my final destination of San Francisco I write this blog to you. I always request a window seat because I love to look at the bigger picture.   As you ascend you see the homes as they get smaller.  You observe the clouds as they pass by below and around you.  The higher you climb the smaller things get.

This analogy in life pertains to our everyday lives. The higher we climb in knowing ourselves, in accepting who we are, in improving our characters, in being the spiritual beings that we are called to be, the smaller things here on earth look.

We sometimes miss the big picture because we get so focused on all the smaller things life throws our way.  Everyone’s definition of small varies – I guess it depends on your tolerance, your perspective, your attitude, your life experiences.  Think of some things that may be going on in your life that may be considered small and remember to see the bigger picture.

In the book by Amanda Owen, The Power of Receiving, it states:  “although our egos have an important function, they just don’t have the bigger picture; they don’t have an aerial view.”

Sometimes the bigger picture can’t be seen because of the dense fog or clouds that engulf us.  We ask for rays of sunshine so we can have a break in the clouds.  At times the bigger picture cannot be seen due to turbulence – those small bumps in the air.  We must remain focused to be able to be grounded within ourselves to truly take in what life has to give us and be able to process it.  The key word is “process”.  Do whatever it takes to process life – when we avoid it or are in denial then it seems to me that the same issues keep coming up in different scenarios.

We must feel the pain to go through the pain.  If we choose not to feel the pain and instead numb the pain with alcohol, pills, activities to distract us then the pain will creep up over and over again.

So when life throws you lemons, let’s make lemonade and remember to be aware that there’s always a bigger picture in this big adventure we call life…..

Remember, may the possibilities of today excite us !

New Beginnings

Hello Girlfriends – Roman Philosopher Seneca affirmed, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end.”  This also is part of song lyric by Greenday.

What are some new beginnings; a new job, new home, new friends.  How do we do with new beginnings? Do we welcome them or fear them?  Are they challenges or a breathe of fresh air?  I personally have had a new beginning since last June.  I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area last July, from there moved to Asheville, North Carolina in December and now another move.  A new beginning awaits me with every move.  Made wonderful new friends while in California; ones that will be with me for a lifetime; sometimes you just know when you’ve met amazing women.  In my opinion, new beginnings signify change and change signifies new adventures.  A new beginning can give you another chance at life at times.  So if you are ending an old way of thinking, or an old pattern of living, take it and make the most of it.  Don’t be afraid to create a new beginning.

Remember, may the possibilities of today excite us all!

A recent statement, which was directed to the United Nations by a “selection of major female world leaders including Hilary Clinton, called upon “all States to ratify and fulfill their obligations under the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and to implement fully Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) on Women and Peace and Security and other relevant UN resolutions.”

If you are assuming that the United States is firmly behind this treaty as would be fitting given its ideologies, you would be mistaken.  Thirty years ago President Carter sent this treaty to the Senate for ratification.  It still has not happened.  Why? Because special exemptions  have been added to all versions of the treaty.  The result is that “in a recent Newsweek list of the best countries in the world for women, the United States ranked eighth overall, but it joined countries near the bottom of the list – Iran (125th), Sudan (156th) – in not being a signatory to CEDAW.”

There are numerous documents, reports and anecdotal information pointing out that in communities (whether it be rural, suburban, city or corporation) in which women have an equal and active role society improves.  Women, as Maureen Simon points out in her book, “Awakening The Essential Feminine: Claiming Your Influential Power”, have natural gifts for building relationships, verbal ability and communication that creates connection and harmony.   Consider this: “The feminine is highly relational and is interested in points of contact that connect people, allowing for deep exchanges, strong relationship building and communication.”   Can the world benefit from these skills?

It is time for us to join with forward thinking and acting governments and to ratify CEDAW.  We must reclaim our belief in ourselves.

Last June the “Democracy That Delivers For Women” conference was held in Washington, D.C. In reading through some of the conference resources I came across several points well worth noting.

1. Social change requires vision and leadership..

Women who are deeply connected with their natural feminine gifts; their intuition, their nurturing, their communication skills, are women who have these qualities of vision and leadership so necessary now. Developing these gifts is a priority today

2. Women are at the core of strengthening democratic processes and market institutions.

Because of women’s innate attributes of cooperation, empathy, building connections rather than hierarchies, they are especially suited to bring about the social change that will create a new and more balanced world.

To often women have undervalued their natural gifts, accepting them as normal. It is time now to cultivate these attributes and rely on them. They are what is needed in the world.  As women we must take responsibility for creating our own democracy.  We can be helped but without our own belief in ourselves and our natural attributes it will not happen.  Democracy will be created on from the inside out.  It will be based on our understanding our gifts and using them to build the best in ourselves, our communities and then in our world.

The topic around which The Essential Feminine Living Room will revolve this week includes fulfillment.  It started me thinking about fulfillment.

When we order something on line as most of us do these days, our orders wind up in a Fulfillment Department.  They fulfill the orders by packing them up and sending them out.
The process is complete.

The first definition of fulfill is to bring into actuality, a more useful definition when we think in terms of our personal fulfillment.   We will feel fulfilled when we have brought ourselves into actuality.  Recent reports state that many people today are not happy in their work.  I would suggest that their work only fulfills them in that it is completed like packing an order and sending it out.  If our work is aligned with our own personal growth and development, I believe, it would be fulfilling work.  Each day we would get closer to bringing our true selves into actuality.
