Claim Your Influence: Claim Your Life

Influence is a state of being.  When we are living with our influence fully expressed doors open, life becomes easier and we make a difference. We need to develop clear communication skills to express what we need and to make ourselves heard. Power, voice and influence are all directly connected.  Power is the ability, strength, and capacity to do something.    Influence is the effect of something on a person, thing, or event or the power that somebody has to affect other people’s thinking or actions by means of argument, example, or force of personality. Voice is the necessary vehicle to express what needs to change- be different or developed. When we believe we have the power to create change influence is a direct outcome.

It’s important for us to understand what we value in order to make a decision on where we want to place our attention in the world.  Power is the energy behind influence and can be found in four specific realms:  the spiritual, the intellectual, the emotional and the physical.  Have you ever thought about the source of your power?  Have you ever asked yourself where you place the majority of your power and influence?

Women have a great ability to influence the direction in which the world is moving but we must first understand our powerful and unique world view and value the strength and contribution of our voice.  Voice is the medium or expression for power and influence.  In my work with women, two of the greatest areas I have focused on over the years are clear expression of voice and the right use of will or influence.  We need clarity and confidence to express our values through our voice.

·         What power or skills do you need to develop to do so?

·         Is your voice clear and strong enough to support the change you want to make? If not, where do you need to strengthen it?

Day to day power- are you using yours?

When we create our business and our life from a sense that we are lining up our actions in service to something of value- and for something greater than ourselves we create a sense of power within ourselves. We also become more attractive which draws people and experiences to us.  In order for us to create lives and businesses that make a contribution and bring happiness to our own lives we must be clear about our mission, our offer, and our desired outcome. Power comes from this clarity. As we approach 2017 get clear on:

~do you have a sense of power in your life?

~what needs to be different for you to claim your power more fully?

~are you clear about why you are here on planet earth?

Power begins with clarity. Show up and live fully expressing yours.

What we do must be important to us. We must have personal buy in or the things we say we want to accomplish –simply will not be accomplish, especially in times of challenge.  Once we know what we honestly value from deep inner reflection- the act of achieving it becomes truly possible. It is with ourselves that we must be honest. We are now well into the New Year –time to get real!  Notice what you have committed to in your life- are you living it? If not start today!

What we truly value and what we are committed to naturally shows up in our life- often without struggle- and with ease. The old saying holds true in this case- “where we place our attention/intention – energy follows”.  Also remember endurance, diligence and having a focused commitment are all key to successful manifesting. Many stop dreaming, wishing or creating when they hit a wall. Actually this is a time when many new answers, solutions and new directions reveal themselves – if we are open and listen.

So let’s get started. Answer the below questions and see how ready you are to manifest something great:

• What is it that you want to create/manifest?
• Are you ready to call this intention/manifestation in daily for 3 months? (In your prayers, verbally stating it in a ritual or any way that suits you).
• Can you create small steps or actions to make it real?
• When wobbly or in doubt- or strong and invigorated- can you stay diligent with endurance? (hint: there may be many tests along the way- stay strong the rewards may be huge)!
• Check in regularly to see if you are truly committed…update the creation you envision as needed but stay true to its creation.
• Do not be a lone cowgirl- get support. When we help each other much more gets created.

I had a dream…. do you?

I am delighted to say I am writing you from Ireland- returning here is a dream that has come true for me! I am spending a year living between Dublin, Ireland and London, England. This was a dream that I held very close to my heart for many years. My journey here has taught me many lessons including; that jumping off the cliff without water, as I moved towards my dream, can be very risky, yet if I do not make a jump- I stay still. I also learned that when I have clear intention and dedication to this intention- anything is possible. I believe we all need to have updated visions or dreams as this is what motivates and guides me to create the new. Do you have a dream? What now needs to happen for you to be living it?

I would like to know. I ask because this is the question I asked myself when I realized I had reached many of my dreams and stopped dreaming. Often lethargy, a lack of peace and excitement for life are symptoms that show up when we stop dreaming.  The world is in a state of transformation. Old systems are falling away-violence and disharmony abound. This is more the reason for us to hold a vision or a dream and move towards making it real. Light and dark are forces that have always been on earth- for eternity. It is now time – more than ever to move towards your dream!

Lead or Leave- England’s Choice is Clear- But Has She Missed a Major Opportunity?

I need to say from the start that I am Irish and that I truly love England. She is an old friend although we have a deep challenging history. I also must say that I was truly shocked by her vote yesterday to leave the EU. I myself question many things about the EU including, how it is run, the excessive bureaucracy and the endless inefficiencies. But I have always seen this great model as holding many opportunities for humanity. I have seen it as a place where we can learn to live and work together and to move towards-unity. I see the EU holding the potential for us to measure how we are doing as humans. Are we getting along, collaborating and supporting each other to be something bigger than we are on our own?

I believe that England’s decision to leave was made from fear greatly influenced by the mass migration that Europe is experiencing. Living here these days, I can certainly see that this is a valid concern as social systems are overburdened in all countries as refugees arrive and mass migration is a way of life.

As I was sitting in shock after hearing the results I wondered:

~ What are the solutions to Europe’s migration and many other problems?

~Can we stand by and watch people fleeing from wars with infants in their arms as they make their way onto         unsafe boats boarding for unknown lands and often never making it?

~When does their crisis become ours?

For England I guess it was all too much. She wanted her sovereignty back. Historically -she sailed solo on the great seas. With her renowned navy, she held power, strength and dominance in the world. She still holds this memory. I believe England made her decision – from a place of fear not strength. She wanted to return to controlling her destiny, as this is what she knows best. But I think she missed a very important point- that solo sailing is a thing of the past. I believe she missed a major opportunity. Far greater, more courageous options of leadership were available to her which would have allowed her to provide guidance and to use her many gifts and experiences to steer Europe to higher ground- but she did not make this choice.

In this time of distress for many, there is some good news. I am meeting other people, like myself, who seek to work in collaboration and partnership with others. Who have in the past been the lone cowboys and cowgirls and are done with this way of being. I am meeting many who are concerned deeply about the wellbeing of others and know that we are all interconnected and the pain of the woman refugee escaping her war-torn country with her baby on the boat ~is our pain. We are all interconnected and can no longer afford to turn our heads or isolate.

It is clear to me that Europe is at a crossroads and it needs to become the leader in finding solutions to many diverse problems. 

Many questions remain:

Will the remaining 27 EU nations pull together and grow from yesterday’s experience?

Will they be the ones who find compassionate- solutions to the problems of mass migration- unnecessary war and hate?

Will the EU become the model that it has the potential to be?

I believe that within every crisis lies an opportunity. What could he opportunity be here?

Maybe it is time to ask the question that the great philosopher Aristotle asked- way back-

“Is the whole greater than the sum of its parts”? If  we collectively answer yes I believe there is hope.

The New Vacation- Staycation?

Thinking about summer almost always brings up the thought of vacationing.  When I was a child we lived on the East Coast of the U.S.  We always took our vacation on Cape Cod.  I have special memories of deep pine forests, ice cream cones, long bike trails and hot sandy beaches that warmed my toes.  As I embraced the business world, the lines of vacation became more blurred.  During some years’ time became less available for long summer strolls on the beach.  At the same time the need for rejuvenation and rest was greater.   I have always need to slow down so I can hear my natural my rhythm so that I can begin to hear myself and what I really need. This, for me, is the finest gift of a staycation; a truly relaxing vacation.

Today with the world moving at such a quick pace, many of my friends and colleagues are reevaluating what they need in a vacation/staycation.  For many this needs to be a block of time set aside for rejuvenation, contemplation and renewal.  That is not to say that the traditional vacation luxury needs to go.  However, many people are being financially frugal or working more than they have in the past.  So what’s a woman to do?

What would be your version of an ideal staycation or vacation?    I would love to know.

Ready to Take the Plunge?

Ready to Take the Plunge?

I believe now more than ever before in the history of planet earth that we are all being asked to:

v  Know and live with the exact purpose that we are here to live- in the forefront of our day and in the way we prioritize our time use.

v  Realize that we are the caption of our own ship. We by our beliefs and actions, each day, guide the outcome of our life.

v  Life is wonderful when we find out where we need to wake up ( form old habits, limiting beliefs and all else that keeps us small) and when we begin to bust through all limitations and fully show up as the amazing being we truly are.

I now see precisely where I have held myself back and I now know just how clear my day to day intentions need to be. It has become clear to me in my own life that the clearer I am about my intentions the more powerful the outcomes are.  I guess by now the sounds obvious since so many world teachers are focusing on the power of intention.  The truth of the matter is that it needs to become an integrated part of our daily practice or these are just senseless words. And the real truth is that a new portal of possibility has opened and your fully showing up is not just a nice thing – it is essential for us to turn spaceship earth around from the nose dive it seems to be facing.

We now each need to understand what the bigger picture of our life holds.  What is the meaning we are here to express, or live or create?  True magic in life arises when we line up this bigger picture with our daily choices.  The bigger picture serves as a litmus test in which we can begin to measure if our life is in alignment or not.

For many years, I’ve been discussing the idea that each of us has a higher purpose or meaning.  It is the responsibility of each of us to discover our own higher purpose.  A few questions that you may want to ask yourself might include:

·         How can I allow more good into my life?

·         What brings me pure joy?

·         What is deeply meaningful for me?

·         What is the best way for me to develop a life that allows me to live my purpose or meaning for being here now- today?

·         What is the best way for me to create quiet time or time for introspection so that I can find the true answer to this question?

It’s funny- I was just thinking how fast time moves by…like a swift moving river. As I speak with women today on a regular basis I hear the comment that life moves so fast.  For this very reason it is essential that we create time to answer these very important questions.  Once we do, our quality of life becomes far richer and more meaningful.

Live Into Your Own Power- How?

I have been enjoying reading The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power by Howard Vernon. The book addresses so many real hard core issues that we humans are facing today and explains ways to understand challenge—move through it and ways to create really positive change within and through challenging situations. Challenge always presents us with opportunities- like it or not! Years back I remember hearing that in the Chinese language the words challenge and opportunity are the same symbol! Sometimes we get so wrapped up in what challenges us day to day –hour to hour –that we lose our power over to the challenge. What if the challenge gives us the opportunity to experience and live our power?

The quote that I was touched by this morning when reading Vernon’s book was: “If you want opposite results from what you have been getting, take the opposite course-turn all demands inward. Demand your own power! Insist that your mind work for you, not against you. Demand that you stop being afraid. Command your habits be what you wish…”

I am getting very clear that only when we “demand our own power “-will we ever fully claim and live our life with this rich fuel that burns inside each of us. I am also very clear that we can only help and support others to the degree in which we truly understand ourselves and have claimed this rich personal power- which is unique to each and every one of us. When we gain our power and claim our power from life’s challenges we begin to live our life from a higher state. This self transformation does not need to be spoken about. It is felt by all in our lives…increased confidence and clarity are present in the way we connect with people. The light in us responds to the light in others.

·         What will be better in your life when you do?

Go for it- the time is now for most every woman I am now meeting!
