“If you try to view yourself through the lenses that others offer you, all you will see are distortions; your own light and beauty will become blurred, awkward, and ugly.  Your sense of inner beauty has to remain a very private thing.”

John O’Donohue “Anam Cara”

Maureen Simon

We all hold a unique and distinct inner beauty that others do not always understand.  Be sure to view yourself through your own lens as you receive signs and messages and important information from your inner life.  Never be too proud to reject feedback but do so selectively.

Give yourself permission to create something new in your life today.

Stop glorifying being busy long enough to slow down, feel your body, and live a much healthier, creative and inspired life.  When you are not overbooked and pushing to prove yourself, you allow yourself to live in the moment and life becomes invigorating and exciting.  For years our cultures have encouraged us to rush and to push to produce.

Recently I’ve taken more than my usual time for reflection and contemplation as I was starting to notice that I falling into the glorification of busy syndrome.

Over the past couple of months I have totally reevaluated my next steps and created a far more relaxed set of intentions for the year.  I’ve begun to turn more inward towards my intuition for answers and next steps.  I’m making more time for reflections, nature and to notice my natural rhythm.

I wondered:

  • Where are you spinning out in business or life?
  • What needs to happen for you to take more time for you, nature and inner listening?

I’m hosting a mini retreat to address these issues and would love for you to join me in April.

Is Your Life Full Of Simplicity, Order, Harmony, Beauty And Joy?

Wonder what would be different if they were?

“Simplicity, order, harmony, beauty and joy – all the other principles that can transform your life will not blossom and flourish without gratitude.”

I suggest that we all make sure we build gratitude into each day. Consider making it a daily practice. Let’s start together today. I agree full heartedly with Sarah.

The qualities that she mentions in the quote above are at the top of my mind these days. Simplicity has become a good friend as I have noticed I have a tendency to over complicate things. Order – gives me freedom from chaos and more clarity.

Beauty and joy are at the center of my every day. I am realizing how important it is to consistently notice how ever present beauty is in our day.  Joy is a choice –again, available to us every day if we take the time to clear disharmony and to invite joy in.

Harmony is the quality that brings peace and has a pleasing effect in our lives.

It is a quality that I have been paying a lot of attention to these days.  I have been noticing that both me and the good earth are crying for greater harmony. Mother earth has been thrown off balance. In many ways we live off her yet separate from her.  When she is off balance we are all off balance.

In the stream of consciousness that I am sharing with you here– I feel a distinct desire to return to gratitude. Gratitude is where we become conscious of these gifts and is a resting place for us to pay reverence and to root them more deeply in our life. Always remember- each day – to find time to rest – in gratitude. The rewards are huge.

When we believe passionately in something that still does not exist, we create it.

The non-existent is whatever we have not sufficiently desired.

Happy New Year

Go for your greatest dreams and never look back. Unless you feed your dreams with passion, they will remain a non-reality.  Dream big, intend strongly, and sufficiently fuel your greatest desires with passion. Then step back and be patient, anything can become a reality.

Happy New Year and remember to go for it!

When we think about the influence we have in our life and in the world- the idea of our personal power and how we use or do not use it – it always becomes a central theme.  Women have been a part of cultures that place power over her, as opposed to power with or next to her, for far too long.  We need to realize that only when we ourselves recognize and claim our strength, voice and power – as a daily practice – will we fully manifest it!

One of the best ways to allow our inner strength to manifest is by fully contributing to life- by sharing our gifts and the parts of us that we love. By sharing our competence through speaking clearly and sharing what is most important to us -we will create a true and deep excitement towards living!  Also remember to use your past experiences to inform the future and to provide you with strength to which you can begin integrating past lessons.  Never be victim to the challenging days that have passed but use them to your benefit and advantage today.

Gloria Steinem speaks to this in her comment below:

“ I had been raised to assume all power was outside myself, but they (men) had been raised to place power almost nowhere but within themselves.  Often, they were suffering, too.  Just as the fantasy of no control was the enemy of my self-esteem, the fantasy of total control was the enemy of theirs.  For both of us, the goal should have been a point of balance in between: a back-and-forth between the self and others, uniqueness and unity, the planned and the accidental, our internal selves and the universe.  As wise women and men in every culture tell us, the art of life is not controlling what happens to us, but using what happens to us.”

Gloria Steinem “Revolution From Within”

Use life’s experiences to guide and to support you. You have all you need!

Contemplation, Meditation and Inner Reflection ~ Our True Guides in a Fast Paced World?

These past two years have been very active for me and in retrospect I have been looking at the  inner lifestyle supports that I have turned to that have helped  me to create and live so many  of my dreams as I have been designing and co-creating The Essential Feminine Company. (www.TheEssentialFeminine.com).

I have had to find ways to stay grounded and open to innovation, peace and the quality of good living that I so value. I have turned to Transcendental Meditation for over twenty years and suggest it as a way to gain deep inner peace. I have also suggested a nice meditation/ refection for any day you need to center yourself.

After two very fast paced years I must now in retrospect acknowledge that my time spent in the quiet mornings in contemplation, meditation and inner reflection have not only been my life savers for creating inner peace but my well spring for creative ideas. This reflective time has been the place where I receive powerful ideas and guidance that leads to inspiration.

image001

Contemplation, meditation and inner reflection have actually become essential to me daily as I have been stopping and listening most mornings in quiet- to hear what is most important and what signs thoughts or repeated patterns are occurring.  I now realize how this guidance and information would go right by me if I did not stop to listen and assimilate. I can now see what a huge price we pay in this world when this time is not taken – for each of us personally and for us collectively on the planet. Taking time to relax and listen- I believe—is where we gain and access so much rich knowledge and wisdom. Imagine if everyone stopped and listened each day! I wonder how our world would be different.

In the past five years-I have noticed how evolved we have become in the areas of thinking and analyzing – as we live in the fast paced information age. Our minds have adapted to these great skills as a way of receiving information for the guidance we turn to make so many of the decisions in our daily lives. But these are only part of the tools and resources we need to be referencing if we desire to live the amazing, intuitive and guided lives that I believe we are meant to live.

So how do we turn from relying often solely on our minds to now incorporate other essential informers? Try a few out in your early morning and throughout the day. Here are some of my daily friendly reliables:

  • In the morning create a peaceful place to sit – contemplate – gather yourself – a place to – be present.
  • Build time into the morning to sit still – learn a practice to support you. (I find Andrew Harvey’s Book “The Direct Path” a fountain of inspiration and resources for stilling the mind and looking more reflectively at life).
  • Sit
  • Breath
  • Contemplate
  • Make time to include some contact with nature each day.
  • Experience the light, joy and peace throughout the day – some days we actually have to keep an eye out for it!
  • Notice when you are rushing… breath – slow down in that very moment.
  • Value the time you make for you – as a precious gift to and for yourself!
  • Be conscious of how you best create quiet in your life – Go with what works and do more of it!
  • Clarity – notice if things are clearer in your life. Are you seeing things differently? Getting more information?

Please do share with me any changes that you may be experiencing in your life. Just two days of being “tuned in “should yield results!

Enjoy!

“The true man sings gladly in the bright day, sings, loudly of May – fair-aspected season.”
-John Matthews, “From the Isles of Dream”

Sunset

Beltane in the Celtic calendar marks the season of summer.  The darkness turns to light, playfulness abounds and the world becomes green.  In Britain and Ireland, May 1st is May Day – a day when the may pole is gleefully danced around and celebration is in the air.  Having lived in England for many years and being born of Irish blood, this holiday lives alive in my soul.  The day also remains alive in many parts of Ireland and England.

For each of us it is an opportunity for our life to reach full expression – a time when we can invite joy and lightness in to our life.  We have long awaited the dawn to welcome summer.  The time is now.  To the Celts, the brightness of the day signified the Celtic God, Bel, known as “Shining One”.  Caitlin Matthews in her book, “Celtic spirit” refers to Bel as “the bright-faced splendor of green summer whose glad arising spreads a shiny honey of golden light over the waiting earth.  It is hard to witness this sunrise without feeling a part of it.”

What opportunities, possibilities or new beginnings can you create in your life in this very special season of Beltane?

THE WINTER SOLSTICE

 solstice - te meme

The winter solstice carries deep meaning in the Celtic tradition.  It is a time when we turn inward away from the world.  In the quiet, we have an opportunity to contemplate, be more aware of our dreams and visions.  During the winter solstice, the rain or snow is often heavy.  This intensity symbolizes a deep clearing.  In the Celtic tradition, this time of year is also associated with rebirth, the dying of the old and the making way for the new.

  • Where in your life are you experiencing a deadness or stuckness that you are now willing to release?
  • Are you allowing enough down time and quiet in your life to allow for contemplation and inward reflection?
  • What barriers are you willing to take down, where are you willing to open your thinking?  Where are you willing to expand in your life at this time?

maureen simon wealth meme

These days I’ve been learning that wealth comes in many forms.  I must admit, I’m most interested in the inner wealth.  Of course, having enough to comfortably live and share is a high value, but at the end of the day, it’s the wealth that I experience when speaking with a client and seeing her business excel, sharing a story with a close friend over a cup of hot tea and watching the mountain at sunset as it displays phenomenal colors before my eyes.  The wealth I am speaking about comes to me in a strong emotion or feeling.  In many cases, it cannot be bought.

The other ides I’ve been thinking about is the endless supply when we believe that all the beauty, wealth and richness in the world are in endless supply.  I’ve learned this lesson in the days when my well had nearly run dry and shortly after I experience an abundance of richness.  It’s so important to move from our smallness to our greatest selves where trust and possibility are natural and omnipresent.  The art here is to believe.

Maureen conscious move meme

Uncertainty serves as one of our greatest teachers.  When we see it as an opportunity to regroup.  In a world that moves fast and places great pressure on us, we tend to need to know, to control.  Control and knowing serve as crutches or security in a world where we really truly know very little and need to be prepared to live from a place of unknowing.

Are you willing to consider looking at uncertainty in a new way?  Could you see it as a friend, an ally – and opportunity?

The opportunities that can be found in trusting what is uncertain are vast.  Try to include some new thinking around uncertainty and use these keys to guide you:

  • What uncertainty are you faced with now?
  • What is the message or teaching that the uncertainty presenting to you?
  • Where could you apply greater trust?
  • What would be the next right action?

Again, I truly believe that uncertainty is an ally and a great teacher – nothing to fear. ~ Maureen Simon
