“If you try to view yourself through the lenses that others offer you, all you will see are distortions; your own light and beauty will become blurred, awkward, and ugly.  Your sense of inner beauty has to remain a very private thing.”

John O’Donohue “Anam Cara”

Maureen Simon

We all hold a unique and distinct inner beauty that others do not always understand.  Be sure to view yourself through your own lens as you receive signs and messages and important information from your inner life.  Never be too proud to reject feedback but do so selectively.

“When we know about our ancestors, when we sense them as living and as supporting us, then we feel connected to the genetic life-stream, and we draw strength and nourishment from this.”

Philip Carr-Gomm “The Druid Tradition”

Theoretically, we each have two parents, four grandparents, eight great-grandparents, and so on, back in time.  In practice, though, if each person alive continued that exponential progression for, say, thirty generations, we would come up with more people than were on earth at that time.  Genealogists tell us that if we each went back about seventeen generations, we would find many family relationships between ourselves and people of our acquaintance.  It follows, then, that we are all intimately related to each other, that our personal ancestors are shared with many thousands of people alive today.

I love our Celtic way of thinking as it naturally encourages the Laws of Interconnectedness.  The word interconnectedness has become almost a cliché these days as we look at the news and see how the markets are.  The same is true of the web of life.  I believe that our ancestors hold nuggets of wisdom that are important for us to understand at this time.  What do you know about your ancestry?  Does a family member have a particularly important message for you?  Begin to listen.  The web of life is precious and we are all interconnected. Is there an ancestor that comes to mind that may have specific guidance or support for you…today?

Who is the Singer that sends his voice through the dark forest, and inhabits us with ageless and immortal music, and sets the long echoes rolling for evermore?  -Mary Webb, Gone to Earth

sun peaking through the sky- the voice of the soul

We all hold a powerful and unique voice within the depths of our being.  The voice may not speak to us with words, but lets us know that it is there, through a strong sense of knowing that we each know and hold within ourselves.  Many call this the voice of our soul.  In order to hear this inner voice we need to tune out the loudness and distractions of the world, both cannot be heard at the same time.

The Voice of the Soul informs the voice that we speak in our day-to-day lives.  Have you ever had a feeling that something wasn’t quite right?  You knew the answer was clear within yourself?  This is an example of how our inner voice informs us.

Take a look at your life and notice, in the past, times that you have a certain sense of knowing.  Respect and honor that knowing with a renewed sense of commitment.  This inner voice holds a great deal of information for us to benefit from. What is your inner voice of knowing trying to inform you of today. Listen.

When we think about the influence we have in our life and in the world- the idea of our personal power and how we use or do not use it – it always becomes a central theme.  Women have been a part of cultures that place power over her, as opposed to power with or next to her, for far too long.  We need to realize that only when we ourselves recognize and claim our strength, voice and power – as a daily practice – will we fully manifest it!

One of the best ways to allow our inner strength to manifest is by fully contributing to life- by sharing our gifts and the parts of us that we love. By sharing our competence through speaking clearly and sharing what is most important to us -we will create a true and deep excitement towards living!  Also remember to use your past experiences to inform the future and to provide you with strength to which you can begin integrating past lessons.  Never be victim to the challenging days that have passed but use them to your benefit and advantage today.

Gloria Steinem speaks to this in her comment below:

“ I had been raised to assume all power was outside myself, but they (men) had been raised to place power almost nowhere but within themselves.  Often, they were suffering, too.  Just as the fantasy of no control was the enemy of my self-esteem, the fantasy of total control was the enemy of theirs.  For both of us, the goal should have been a point of balance in between: a back-and-forth between the self and others, uniqueness and unity, the planned and the accidental, our internal selves and the universe.  As wise women and men in every culture tell us, the art of life is not controlling what happens to us, but using what happens to us.”

Gloria Steinem “Revolution From Within”

Use life’s experiences to guide and to support you. You have all you need!

maureen simon wealth meme

These days I’ve been learning that wealth comes in many forms.  I must admit, I’m most interested in the inner wealth.  Of course, having enough to comfortably live and share is a high value, but at the end of the day, it’s the wealth that I experience when speaking with a client and seeing her business excel, sharing a story with a close friend over a cup of hot tea and watching the mountain at sunset as it displays phenomenal colors before my eyes.  The wealth I am speaking about comes to me in a strong emotion or feeling.  In many cases, it cannot be bought.

The other ides I’ve been thinking about is the endless supply when we believe that all the beauty, wealth and richness in the world are in endless supply.  I’ve learned this lesson in the days when my well had nearly run dry and shortly after I experience an abundance of richness.  It’s so important to move from our smallness to our greatest selves where trust and possibility are natural and omnipresent.  The art here is to believe.

Maureen conscious move meme

Uncertainty serves as one of our greatest teachers.  When we see it as an opportunity to regroup.  In a world that moves fast and places great pressure on us, we tend to need to know, to control.  Control and knowing serve as crutches or security in a world where we really truly know very little and need to be prepared to live from a place of unknowing.

Are you willing to consider looking at uncertainty in a new way?  Could you see it as a friend, an ally – and opportunity?

The opportunities that can be found in trusting what is uncertain are vast.  Try to include some new thinking around uncertainty and use these keys to guide you:

  • What uncertainty are you faced with now?
  • What is the message or teaching that the uncertainty presenting to you?
  • Where could you apply greater trust?
  • What would be the next right action?

Again, I truly believe that uncertainty is an ally and a great teacher – nothing to fear. ~ Maureen Simon

IMG_4959We’ve been talking about the Elixir Course for the past month. One of the most important things we women need is financial independence.  Many of us have chosen to create sustainable businesses that support our values.  Over the last five years I’ve hundreds of conversations with women who have pointed out that they have had to change or adapt their business to become more relevant or to adapt to new market needs.  The fac e of business is changing.  Relevance is an essential theme to business.  One of my all time favorite things to do is to evaluate a business based on the following criteria:

  • Does It meet a specific market need
  • Is it financially sustainable
  • Does the woman founder/director believe fully in her business.

I truly believe that when we line up our lives with the essence with why we are here, success becomes easily accessible.  However, we still need to have an expertise, passion and diligence in the work we do.  Did you ever consider changing the work you do?  Or, designing or re-designing your business to include something you do well or have a strong interest in.  Stagnation is a great killer.  Never fear change.  Especially, when you have a strong niggling or calling to do something differently.  Are you getting new ideas?  Is something unique or different calling you?  Are you learning new skills that could be applied in new ways? Are you ready to innovate, contribute or change something?

I and my team here at The Essential Company have been working diligently to create the Elixir Course for Women:  http://theessentialfeminine.com/shop#life-elixir
